"My artwork ranges from landscape, representational and a range of abstract compositions. Additionally, I create 3Dimensional art forms in wood, a kind of hanging illuminated wall art. I derive my inspiration from nature, as well as from a variety of images, shapes and forms I see in everyday life. Visual forms often come to me in my mind, much like a musician integrates musical notes to a create a song. I move and edit these forms in my mind's eye to hone in on a composition, and the result of which becomes any one of a number of my abstract or sculptural artwork.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my artwork with you. Thank you for visiting my site." -Lino

Lino Laure was born on Leyte Island, Philippines. At the age of nine, his family emigrated to the US in 1972 and settled in California. He received a BA in Liberal Arts at Cal Poly, Pomona, California with a minor in Education. After teaching grade school for a few years, a chance encounter with a master from India, versed in the ancient healing arts, martial arts and yoga, changed his direction.
When the opportunity came to study yoga with his teacher, he immersed himself in the wisdom of the East. It was then that he began painting. As a self-taught painter, Lino observed, from the beginning, that his instinct to mix color and manage techniques came naturally to him. When he lived in the Bay Area in the late 90's to early 2000, he joined the San Francisco Artist Guild, allowing him the opportunity to showcase his artwork in public venues. In 2003, he moved to Hawaii and made it his home for the next 12 years. He taught yoga and painted prolifically, keeping in pace with commissions and public art shows. In 2016 he returned to the mainland and settled in Tucson, Arizona. It is there he continues his art studio work, oil painting, sculpture and occasionally teaching art.
If you are visiting the Tucson area, Lino is happy to welcome you to visit his art studio and workshop. Contact him here for an appointment.
